Summer Assistant

  • Employed from June 2009 through September 2009.
  • Works 5 consecutive hours a day, 5 days a week.
  • 10,000 yen per month transportation payment.

Responsibilities

  • Update, maintain and reassess the IT Inventory.
  • Collection, identification, cleaning, labeling & distribution of school inventory computers.
  • Imaging, upgrading & troubleshooting of school inventory computers scheduled for reimaging.
  • Sorting and reorganizing IT storage.
  • Arranging for disposal of computers.

Requirements

  • Capacity to be self directed, take direction when warranted

  • Comfortable with Disk images tools, (eg. Firewire cable, Netboot, & Target mode)

  • Ability to complete projects on time with accuracy and professionalism. 

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills 

  • Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills 

  • Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal and task management skills

  • Able to properly lift and safely carry up to 50 pounds. 

Desired 

  • Office software & database skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Open Office, FileMaker Pro)
  • Experience imaging workstations one at a time or in groups using disk imaging technology. 
  • Experience maintaining & tracking medium-to-large hardware inventories.  
  • Advanced IT skills or a strong desire to expand on basic IT skills (e.g. basic computer administration & configuration)
  • Skills with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting and maintaining Macintosh operating systems.

 

Assigned Work

  • PreK-12 student laptops and classroom desktops are to be collected, physically cleaned, counted and recorded in the IT inventory.
  • New computers need to be reimaged. (if new computers are purchased later, then this isn't necessary)
  • All AC Power Adapters are to be collected from Elementary classrooms, Pauli Printer Room, HKC, and Laptop Carts
  • All laptops must have a number sticker underneath the battery.
  • All laptops must have a second distinct label indicating that the computer belongs to YIS.
  • All desktops must be unfrozen and have Mac OS X software updated, OpenOffice 3.1 installed, Apple Remote Desktop 3 installed, and plug-ins updated, then frozen again.
  • All computers will be redistributed equally among Laptop Carts and Elementary Classrooms.
